1.
The Forest 03:20
Musically, The Forest was born from the spark of improvisation. Each instrument is represented by an animal spirit as they begin to communicate in musical harmony with each other and the world around them.
2.
The Serpent 01:55
Musically, the Serpent flows like water but with more substance than the River. The Serpent features three saxophones as they mimic the movements and playfulness of the Serpent itself. The song is a musical representation of the journey from darkness in the middle of nowhere to the tunnel of light that leads to self exploration and truth of consciousness.
3.
The River 02:45
Musically, the River is a sonic representation of water and magic. I introduced the erhu and the Fox to the River and the energy began to flow.
4.
The Pit 01:33
Musically, the Pit is a violent musical journey to the center of our consciousness and offers the blue print for our own salvation.
5.
The Bull 01:05
Musically, the Bull is a playful stomping to the death. We can hear the inner rumblings of the Bull as he mows down his competition and the onlookers alike. No one gets out of this arena alive.
6.
The Owl 02:29
Musically, the owl floats through time and space with effortless and limitless ability of flight and agility. He is playful, weightless, and spiritually blinding as his capability to offer knowledge and justice is relentless and undeniable. The knowledge offered by the owl is transformative.
7.
The Swamp 04:46
Musically, the swamp is a duel to the death. A spooky, horrific, terror driven ride of adrenaline and madness that could only end in death. Or are there worse things?
8.
The Wolf 01:40
Musically, the Wolf is a relentless pursuit of fear, adventure, adrenaline, and madness. It represents the chase, as the Wolf stalks his target with undeniable precision. Once the Wolf has had enough of a pursuit, the ending will come swiftly as the Wolf does not waste his time.
9.
The Mountain 04:47
Musically, the Mountain is a steady climb up harmonic scales meant to represent the progression and upliftment the spirit feels as it overcomes the impossibly difficult feat of scaling past their own fears. The Mountain represents the ability to overcome any obstacle with understanding.
10.
The Bridge 01:25
Musically, the bridge should sound like a musical pathway to an unknown world.
11.
The Tigers 03:01
Musically, the Tigers are playful, energetic, and erratic. The song begins with a bit of playful stalking before the Tigers finally launch into their full blown relentless attack that will leave only complete obliteration in their wake.
12.
Musically, the Mystic Temple is the sound of peace, tranquility, and unity.
13.
The Dragon 02:13
Musically, the Dragon is presented in four pieces, each piece representing a part of the dragon’s being. Beginning with the head, followed by the wings, then the body, and finally the tail. Although the dragon rarely moves, the sonic wave that is the dragon is presented in full motion as the dragon flies and descends on his enemies with full blown obliteration, ending with a thrashing with the dragon’s tail.

about

Witches Brew began from a fascination with jazz that goes back to my earliest memories. I will always worship Miles Davis and his undeniable contribution to the world of music, jazz and fusion. This idea of fusion and free form jazz has led to a universe of musical creation that has touched every genre ever created and continues to spawn new visions and musical entities at every moment of our existence. I became obsessed with fusing musical genres together throughout my long musical journey. In particular, I wanted to hear how heavy jazz could get. I had over twenty years of experience producing and recording all kinds of extreme music so naturally I wanted to fuse jazz with death metal and other forms of extreme music. Why death metal and extreme music one might ask? My answer to that is always, the double bass drum and the blast beat were both created by jazz drummers (Louie Bellson & Buddy Rich) and it was the spirit of jazz that caused ALL musicians to feel a sense of freedom when it came to songwriting. Miles’ album Bitches Brew was the shining example and predecessor to the jazz fusion movement that we owe everything to. And since Miles chose not to use the title Witches Brew, I thought it was only fitting to take this moniker for our own. And also because we are witches…and this is our special brew...
